Auction Rules
General Rules
Each guest will receive a concierege card with their table number and bid number during registration. The bid number is your means of identification, so please remember this number throughout the evening. A signature or verbal bid during the auction constitutes a legal contract to buy. All sales are final and there will be no exchanges or refunds. In all cases of dispute, the decision of the ICRS Auction Committee is final.
Pay close attention to all conditions, restrictions, and expiration dates on various items and services. Except where noted by the donor, services, tickets, certificate items, etc., must be used within one year of the auction and are subject to mutually agreed upon times and dates. The ICRS Auction Committee assumes no responsibility for travel arrangements. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to contact the donor regarding purchased items or events.
Please remove all items at the close of the auction unless other arrangements have been made. Purchases may be tax deductible. Please consult a tax advisor regarding tax laws and the items purchased at the auction.
Silent Auction
To bid on silent auction items, please write your bid number and name on the bid sheet next to the amount you wish to bid. Bids must be opened and raised in the specified increments on the form. Donors are not required to bid the next available increment on the form and are able to skip ahead to the amount they wish to bid.
Some packages have a “buy now” option, which allows you to purchase the package without bidding against other guests. Simply write your assisgned bid number and name in the “buy now” slot on the bid sheet. You may bid on items until the section closes. After the silent auction closes, during dinner, the highest bidder for each item will receive a copy of the bid sheet at their table, which can be used to claim their winnings at the end of the evening.
Raise the Paddle
Bidders will have two opportunities this evening to donate to ICRS. The first raise-the-paddle will support our tuition assistance fund to make Catholic education affordable for all families in Skagit Valley. The second raise-the-paddle will fund our capital improvement project to build a covered play area for our students, meaning no more indoor recess as well as allow us to make some much-needed improvements to St. Joseph Center.
During the Live Auction the auctioneer will call out different contribution levels. Raise your bid card for the level you wish to donate, and remember, this donation is fully tax deductible.
Best of Live
Only 100 tickets will be sold! For only $100 you will receive a derby necklace and have the chance to win one advertised package* from the Live Auction Section. A winner will be drawn prior to the Live Auction bidding, and the lucky guest will select one item* from the Live Auction line up! The item will be removed from the bidding pool and become property of the Best of Live Winner! Winner must be present at time of drawing. Individuals may purchase as many tickets as they wish, but only one person will be chosen. *Excludes Apple Cup tickets and Alaska Fishing Trip.
Dessert Dash
Prepare for a little friendly competition with neighboring tables in the high stakes derby dash to grab your table's dessert. Each table picks a single representative to be their jockey, pools their bids together, and completes the dessert auction form. When instructed by the auctioneer, the representative from the highest bidding table “dashes” using the inflatable stick pony to the dessert display and “claims” their table’s choice. The auctioneer will call tables sequentially from the highest to the lowest bid. Be sure to bid high and dash fast to get your first choice of these delectable treats!
Heads or Tails Game
Heads or Tails is a fun game that will be held at the beginning of the Live Auction. The lucky winner will take home $500 cash. For a chance to play, purchase a necklace for $25 from our raffle ticket sellers before “last call”. Game Rules: The Auctioneer will announce, “It’s time to play Heads or Tails!” All participants must stand up. When directed, place both hands on your “head” or place both hands on your “tail” and await the results of the coin toss. Players with hands placed to match the side of the coin tossed remain standing. All others must sit down and have been eliminated. The Auctioneer will continue until one remaining participant is standing and deemed the winner.
